Celebrating 21 years with a tree planting partnership

The 31st March 2009 was a particular milestone for Kent Services Limited as it marked the completion of 21 successful years of supplying reusable, museum standard packing containers & services to the UK’s museums, galleries and private collections. It was an ideal occasion for us to say thank you to all our customers for their valued support whilst at the same time, celebrate the business values on which the last 21 years has been managed; that of providing sustainable products in an economical way. We decided therefore to sign up as a Corporate Partner of Tree Appeal, an environmental organisation that promotes and facilitates the planting of trees and the creation of wildlife habitats throughout the UK.

We specifically chose to support the Appeal’s ‘Trees for Schools’ scheme and already have the initiative well underway by donating a large number of native, broad leaf trees in the names of our customers as part of our 21 years celebration. We are delighted that all the trees planted so far have contributed to environmental projects in 3 Primary schools in the Andover, Birmingham and Merseyside areas, helping to create wildlife habitats, and supplement mature woodlands; the management of which also supports science and environmental curriculum activities.

The concept of Tree Appeal is based upon making an environmental commitment integral to a company’s business and we intend to embrace this concept fully by making tree planting an additional part of our Container Leasing Service! The service already provides ready access to a large stock of containers, designed and manufactured to be re-usable - thereby reducing the need for repetitive manufacture and the resultant waste of valuable resources. We now hope to reinforce the sustainability aspect of this service by linking future tree planting donations directly to the quantity of containers leased by our customers, thereby helping to offset any new timber that we use for new stock.

Working with tree Appeal will enable us to make a real contribution to the environment. We hope our customers will feel genuinely engaged with this initiative and that it continues for the next 21 years!

“We are delighted to welcome Kent Services Ltd as a Tree Appeal Corporate Partner. By supporting the Trees for Schools scheme, they are making a positive contribution to the environment and to education, and demonstrating their commitment to sustainable business in a new way.” Managing Director of Tree Appeal, Ken Whitley
